3 years sober · back to work in construction
“I didn't need someone to fix me. I needed a house where mornings started on time and someone noticed if I didn't show up for breakfast.”
— Marcus T. · Encino House
I came into Encino after a stint in detox with nowhere to go. I'd been sober for three weeks and I was terrified of the fourth.
The first month was small: coffee, meetings, a job lead from another resident. Nobody made a big deal out of me. That was the point.
Three years later I'm back on a crew, my kid is talking to me again, and I still call my sponsor every Sunday. The house isn't magic. It's just where I finally got the reps in.
